A Guide to Dating English Antique Clocks by Eric Bruton
Provides a pictorial record, as well as collated information, to help dealers and collectors to date English clocks by their case styles. Using examples from the famous Wetherfield collection, this title includes 220 separate photographs showing a range of designs. It deals with dating a clock by its movement, dial and case.
Eric Bruton first became interested in clocks while an engineer officer in the Royal Air Force. Over the years, he edited journals, including the Horological Journal, founded a weekly newspaper, Retail Jeweller, and a business selling clocks, watches and jewels, as well as writing a number of books on these subjects, including Collector's Dictionary of Clocks and Watches (also published by Hale). He was a Fellow and Councillor of the British Horological Institute, Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers and the Worshipful Company of Turners as well as an Honorary Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. He died in 2000.
