Haiku Journey Through The 20^th Century brings together the author's deep knowledge of music with his poetic craft rendered in the form of the Japanese Haiku. Within these pages you will be taken through a unique musical excursion that begins in the year 1900 and ends in 1999, each year sign-posted by one instrumental and one song. These are not necessarily musical pieces that have landed on the critics' best-sellers lists (although most have); they are songs and instrumentals that have impacted the author in personal ways. The Haikus are meditations on the music and are accompanied by short commentaries that highlight some of the historical and social background of each piece and the significance that they hold for the author. Muü¾Œ–˜¼oz, Dave R.: - Dave R. Muü¾Œ–˜¼oz (Haiku Dave) is a poet, piano musician, music historian, photographer, and multi-media artist. He has been writing poetry from the age of 18. From 1999 to 2017 he worked at a school where he wrote a daily haiku for the school-wide community and earned the moniker of Haiku Dave. He has also independently produced several solo piano CDs: Music for Sleepwalking Series, 1995-1997; The Basement Tapes, 1996; and Earth Works, 1999. Dave was born and raised in southern California and spent 30 years studying and working in the San Francisco Bay Area where he received a Master's degree in Philosophy and Religion. Following brain surgery and multiple strokes, he is now retired and resides in Washington State with his wife Cristina and his Service Dog Wiggly.
