Ali Emadi earned his bachelor's degree and master's degree with honors from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, and his doctorate from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He is the head of the McMaster Institute for Automotive Research and Technology and the Canada excellence research chair in hybrid powertrain at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He was previously the Harris Perlstein endowed chair professor of engineering and head of the Illinois Institute of Technology's (IIT) Electric Power and Power Electronics Center and Grainger Laboratories. He also founded, chaired, and served as president of Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technologies, Inc., an IIT spinoff.
