He was previously the Harris Perlstein endowed chair professor of engineering and head of the Illinois Institute of Technology's (IIT) Electric Power and Power Electronics Center and Grainger Laboratories. He also founded, chaired, and served as president of Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technologies, Inc., an IIT spinoff.
