The Handmade Book by Angela James

As the market for handmade papers and stationery continues to grow, scrapbooks, photo albums, diaries and blank books made with natural materials have never been so popular. Putting a modern slant on a traditional craft, this title describes a range of simple bookbinding skills necessary to create unique and personal journals, notebooks, albums and portfolios, using a variety of binding techniques and different media such as wood, leather and fabric. An inspirational text, it also includes a gallery section showing the works of world-renowned professional bookbinders.
Angela James is a past winner of the Thomas Harrison Memorial Award for Bookbinding and is a Fellow of the presitigious Guild of Designer Bookbinders. She exhibits her work internationally and receives numerous commissions which have included the binding of four of the short-listed Booker Prize novels for their authors. Her work is in numerous private collections worldwide as well as the British Library and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Royal Libraries of Sweden and Copenhagen and universities in the United States and Australia. She lives in Osmotherley, North Yorkshire.
