Happiness in Living Color by Heidi Herman

Heidi Herman is an Illinois native with strong Scandinavian roots and ties to Iceland. Her mother is an Icelandic native who met and married a WWII American serviceman stationed in Reykjavik. Heidi was raised on tales of valiant fishermen, naughty trolls, and brave Vikings. She once told her primary school teacher that America was discovered by Leif Ericsson, not Christopher Columbus, and that the history books were incorrect. Heidi was reintroduced to childhood recollections of tradition, lore, and fanciful stories thanks to her mother's memoirs. She made Christmas yard art based on one of her mother's folk tales. The troll-like characters piqued many people's interest, prompting Heidi to write her debut book, The Tale of the Icelandic Yule Lads. Heidi is currently working on a series of stories about the Yule Lads' new adventures, as well as a collection of folk tales about other Icelandic legendary creatures.

She lives just down the street from her mother, with whom she collaborates on new stories and spreading the enchantment of Iceland to anybody who would listen.
