This volume describes the pioneering horticultural therapy work of the Natural Growth Project at the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture, where psychotherapy takes place in a natural setting on allotments and in a Remembrance Garden. Using nature both as a medium of communication and as a source of healing, transpersonal psychotherapist Jenny Grut and her team work with individuals and families whose lives have been shattered by torture and organized violence. The book draws on ten years of experience and outlines a working practice.The late Jenny Grut worked as a psychotherapist for the Medical Foundation where she set up the Natural Growth Project in 1992. Born in Argentina, she lived and worked in Britain for 17 years. Her training in transpersonal psychotherapy provided a natural stepping-stone for this unique work, since it incorporates a spiritual dimension.
Sonja Linden is a playwright and short story writer and has edited plays, poetry and short fiction. As Writer in Residence for the Medical Foundation, she set up the Write to Life Project to help refugees and asylum seekers
