In addition, he is the author of Constable: A Brief History of Britain's Oldest Independent Publisher and other books. He lives in London with his wife and their black-and-white rescue cat, Lucky.

He has twice been voted The Cartoonists' Club of Great Britain Cartoonist of the Year and twice Social and Political Cartoonist of the Year and was made an MBE in 2003. In this his eighty-first year he remains the nation's number one cartoonist, still at the top of his game.
