Jay Hulme is an award-winning poet, performer, speaker and teacher, whose books include Clouds Cannot Cover Us and Rising Stars: New Young Voices in Poetry. He also performs sensitivity reads on new books, and consults and speaks on trans rights and inclusion. He lives in Leicester, where he spends his time exploring older buildings, making a fuss of dogs, and wearing long coats on windy days. Here Be Monsters is Jay’s first published illustrated children’s book. Sahar Haghgoo is a freelance illustrator, based in north-west London. She creates with digital and mixed media techniques, and her illustrations are influenced by Iranian miniatures, old tales and theatre. Humour, love and kindness are key to her work. She has a BA in graphic design and a MA in illustration, and is an illustration mentee on Pop Up’s Pathways into Children’s Publishing programme (2019-2021).
