In 1965, the Furniture Factories Marketing Association attempted to corral both the High Point and Hickory markets into opening at the same time in order to give no buyer an advantage on the new styles. Instead of encompassing two weekends by starting early and finishing late, the group of manufacturers in the association, set a firm April Monday morning in 1965 as the start of the spring market.
