The Hindu View of Life by S Radhakrishnan
A timeless treatise on what constitutes the Hindu way of life Religion in India can appear to be a confusing tangle of myths, with many different gods and goddesses worshipped in countless forms. This complexity stems from a love of story-telling, as much as anything else, but it is only the surface expression of Indian faith. Beneath can be found a system of unifying beliefs that have guided the lives of ordinary families for generations. Here, one of the most profound philosophers of India explains these and other related concepts intrinsic to the Hindu philosophy of life.
Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888-1975) was an Indian philosopher and statesman who served as India's first Vice President (1952-1962) and second President (1962-1967). Dr. Radhakrishnan received a knighthood in 1931, the Bharat Ratna in 1954, and honorary membership in the British Royal Order of Merit in 1963, making him one of India's most illustrious twentieth-century comparative religion and philosophy experts. Teachers, according to Dr. Radhakrishnan, should be the brightest minds in the country. On September 5, his birthday has been observed in India as Teachers Day since 1962.
