The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle

The setting is Dartmoor in Devon, and Sir Charles Baskerville is dead. Somewhere out there, legend has it that a huge black hound is lurking on the moors, and it is up to Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Doctor Watson to investigate the matter at hand. Originally serialised in The Strand magazine from August 1901 to April 1902, this well-loved tale will grip readers from start to finish.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born in 1859 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He began a medical career before embarking on literary ventures with A Study in Scarlet, his first novel featuring the iconic Sherlock Holmes. Conan Doyle died in 1930 in the hall of Windlesham Manor, his house in Crowborough, East Sussex. He was aged 71.
