Andrew McKean is the Editor of Outdoor Life magazine and a lifelong outdoorsman. Raised on a Missouri farm, he grew up hunting deer, turkeys, predators, and upland birds. A former newspaper and magazine editor, McKean is the author of Hunting the West. He served a stint as editor of Rocky Mountain Fishing & Hunting News before joining Outdoor Life as its Western Columnist. He later joined the magazine staff as Hunting Editor and Optics Editor, titles he still holds. He is a Hunter Education instructor and Scout leader. In his career with the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks, he took national honors from the Association for Conservation Information for magazine writing. He has hunted around the world with a rifle, shotgun, and bow for big game, birds, predators, and small game. McKean lives on a ranch in Glasgow, Montana with his family.

Illustrators:

Juan Calle is both an artist and scientist, with a degree in biology and training in science illustration. He has worked as an artist and designer for Disney Interactive Studios, Red Ocean Entertainment, and INMOTION Studios, and and has taught classes in digital and comic book illustration. He has illustrated a number of books, including the highly successful Show Me How series, and the Outdoor Life Survival Manual.

Ron Frenz is best known for his work with Marvel, particularly his seminal 1980s illustration for The Amazing Spider-Man. Frenz's other work includes such titles as The Mighty Thor, Ka-Zar the Savage, The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Marvel Saga, Thunderstrike and Superman. Several of Frenz's creations/co-creations have gone on to be featured in regular or limited series at both Marvel and DC.

Tony Harris made his first real splash in the world of comic illustration in 1994 with the appearance of DC Comics' Starman. Harris has provided art for such famous comics as Batman, Superman, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Hulk, Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, X-Men, Green Lantern, Planet of the Apes and many more. He has been nominated for five Eisner Comic Industry Awards (the Oscar of the comics world.)

Tony Shasteen has worked as an illustrator since 1995, with dozens of clients ranging from Coca-Cola to DC Comics. His art has been featured in graphic novels including Burn Notice by USA Network, and The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub. Notable other work has been featured by White Wolf, Shadowrun, Realms of Fantasy, and Dark Horse comics.
