How to Investigate Damp by Ralph Burkinshaw

The aim of this book is to take the reader by the hand and show them exactly how to carry out various inspection techniques to identify the causes of damp in buildings.

Ralph Burkinshaw (FRICS, BSc, MA, CSRT, PGCHE ) is a Chartered Building Surveyor and Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with more than 45 years’ experience in the property and construction industry. He has written and researched on dampness in buildings extensively, including firstly with Mike Parett the classic textbook for surveyors, Diagnosing Damp published in 2003, followed by Remedying Damp in 2009. He is qualified in remedial treatment surveying (CSRT) and has extensive experience in flood remediation, with industry qualifications in applied structural drying and water damage restoration. He has also learned trade skills in construction – winning a silver trowel award in brickwork – and several of his hands-on innovative projects feature in this text. Ralph has also been employed as a senior lecturer in building surveying and has run innumerable seminars for surveyors all over the UK on dampness investigation.
