Humpty Dumpty by Annie Kubler
This award winning series has been specifically designed for babies. A great introduction to books through well-known nursery rhymes and interactive text. Singing songs and rhymes is the perfect way to bond with your baby and share quality time. It also aids language development by introducing them to the natural sounds and patterns of speech. Combining these with actions also stimulates the brain and helps muscle development.
Taking her visual cue from Helen Oxenbury's sublime Clap Hands (1987) and its Big Board Books companions, Kubler sets the familiar nursery rhyme in a jolly day-care setting peopled with a multiethnic cast of toddlers (one even wears a colorful eyepatch, presumably for wandering eye)The action takes place within the context of pretend play, with a child and a toy Humpty on a "wall" of pillows; all the king's horses take the form of hobby horses, and the king himself and his "men" have clearly been raiding the dress-up chest. Together with Hop a Little, Jump a Little! (ISBN: 978-1-84643-341-2), Pat-a-Cake (ISBN: 978-1-84643-338-2) and Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat (ISBN: 978-1-84643-340-5), this is a splendid, slightly larger-than-usual contribution that is sure to see many repeated readings. Musical notations on the back encourage sung renditions for extra fun. * Kirkus *
Kubler presents each nursery rhyme simply and successfully. She does not adorn the verse or change it from the original, rather these are modern versions of the classics. * Kid's Lit Blog *

Annie Kubler was born in the north east of France, in a mountainous area called the Vosges, where she spent her childhood. After studying Visual Communication at the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg, she moved to England in 1985 joining the Child’s Play team led at the time by its founder Michael Twinn. For 40 years she has been their art director while also illustrating many books. Extremely proud to have played a part in building the inclusive and diverse Child's Play list, she hopes to have inspired many children in their reading journey. She now lives in the north west of the UK, close to wild and wonderful landscapes that she loves to explore on foot or on two wheels.
