Bill Mares was born in Texas and received his education at Harvard. He has worked as a journalist, a high school teacher, and a member of the Vermont House of Representatives. He has written or co-authored 15 books on topics ranging from the Marine Corps to workplace democracy to presidential fishing, as well as four humorous books with Prof. Real Vermonters Don't Milk Goats is a best-seller by Frank Bryan. Running, beekeeping, singing, and fly-fishing are some of his favorite pastimes. He and his 45-year-old wife, Chris Hadsel, live in Burlington, Vermont. They have two sons together.
