I'm Too Hot Now by Roger Neighbour

Tomorrow's general practitioners will inhabit a world of ever greater sophistication and complexity. New skills will be demanded to manage the changing expectations of patients and governments. In an age of information overload, new patterns of creative, intelligent working will need to develop. This book provides a framework, illustrated by practical examples, for such a career path to develop and be supported. It examines a number of innovative schemes which highlight varied ways forward, both for training and personal enrichment. It addresses not only the need of today's young doctors, but also the question of how to equip all general practitioners for the challenges of the future.

He worked for many years as a teacher and program director for the Watford Vocational Training Plan, as an MRCGP examiner for 20 years, and as Chief Examiner for the Royal College of General Practitioners from 1997 to 2002. He was elected President of the Royal College of General Practitioners for a three-year term in 2003. He received an OBE in 2011 for services to medical education.

Roger became captivated with the psychology of consultation and the doctor-patient relationship in general practice after studying experimental psychology rather than biochemistry as an undergraduate. His 'Inside' trilogy, The Inner Consultation (1987), The Inner Apprentice (1992), and The Inner Physician (2016), was inspired by this fascination. I'm Too Hot Now, a collection of his medical and philosophical articles, was released in 2005. Roger continues to publish, teach, and lecture on consulting skills and medical education in the UK and around the world now that he has retired from clinical practice.

He is a semi-professional violinist who enjoys spending time in Normandy, where he has a second home.
