Husserl lays out the philosophical problem of knowledge, indicates the requirements for its solution and introduces the phenomenological method of reduction. This text gives a glimpse into the epistemological motivation of his work and his concept of intentionality.Edmund Husserl was born in Moravia in 1859 and studied mathematics and physical sciences in Vienna and Berlin. In 1884, he made the decision to devote his life to philosophy. Until his retirement in 1928, he held professorships at the universities of Halle, Gottingen, and Freiburg. In 1938, he passed away. Experience and Judgment, also published by Northwestern University Press, is one of his many published works.
