IELTS - the Complete Guide to Task 1 Writing by Phil Biggerton

The Complete Guide to Task 1 Writing has been written for both beginners and more advanced students of IELTS and offers an ideal way to prepare more thoroughly for the IELTS test.

The student is taken step by step in simple, plain English through all the various stages of writing a 150-word Task 1 essay. The mistakes commonly made when analysing a diagram are highlighted and more effective, easy to remember, tips are provided to help ensure a higher grade in the exam.

Diagrams include: bar charts, line charts, pie charts, tables, processes, cycles, flow charts, objects and maps.

Model answers are provided for each diagram and help explain more clearly what the IELTS examiner is looking for when marking the Task 1 essay.

Since 1992, Phil Biggerton has been teaching English across Europe and Asia. He has spent the last ten years specializing in both training and developing IELTS teaching materials. As a result, a number of IELTS books based on strategies developed throughout time have been published. He has also served as an examiner for the British Council in Taipei, Taiwan, and has taught English for Academic Purposes (EAP) presessional courses at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. He currently works online, assisting IELTS students with their writing skills, and he recently published Drink and Be Damned, a book commemorating America's 100th anniversary of Prohibition.
