Indian Philosophy by S Radhakrishnan

S. Radhakrishnan's critical survey traces the history of Indian philosophy from the Rigveda to the theism of Ramanuja, showing both its continuous development and interpreting individual philosophers in the light of this thesis of a single philosophical stream. Volume 1 contains a general introduction to Indian philosophy and covers the period from the Rigveda to Buddhism, including the Upanisads and the theism of the Bhagvad Gita. Volume 2 covers the six Brahmanical systems.
This work gives a clear and rational account of the highest conceptions of HinduismThe happy blend of Eastern conceptions with Western terminology makes the book intelligible even to the inexpert and it need hardly be added, instructive. Professor Radhakrishnan has shown that in their perception of the goal, in the acuteness of their reasoning, and in the boldness of their conceptions, the Indian thinkers are second to none. Times Literary Supplement

Teachers, according to Dr. Radhakrishnan, should be the brightest minds in the country. On September 5, his birthday has been observed in India as Teachers Day since 1962.
