Introducing Qualitative Research in Psychology by Carla Willig

This book introduces students to the use of qualitative research in psychology. This form of research is primarily concerned with meaning and the quality of experience, rather than statistical analysis of differences between groups of people. The book describes and illustrates six methods of qualitative research, and explores them in relation to theories of knowledge and understanding.
Carla Willig is a lecturer in psychology at City University, London. She has been teaching courses on qualitative methods in psychology for almost ten years. Her research and publications are concerned with the epistemology and application of discourse analytic work. She is editor of Applied Discourse Analysis, also published by Open University Press (1999).
