Jane And The Dragon: A Dragon's Tail by Baynton Martin
This is an exciting junior novel based on the Jane and the Dragon animated TV series. What's worse than a Dragon with a sore head? Dragon with a sore head and a bad case of Curly Tail! Dragon is ill and Skyleaf is his only hope for a cure. Jane and Gunther set off in search of the rare plant, but it only grows on the mountain top overlooking the sea: The mountain top where the edges are crumbly and dangerous. Will Jane and Gunther find the Skyleaf in time? And what will Dragon do when he discovers his friend has put herself in danger to save him?
Martin Baynton has been a writer and illustrator since 1980 and has an international reputation for his books for children. He also writes for the stage, television, film and radio. On creating Jane, the feisty heroine, he says: "Fairy tales are tough on girls," says Martin Baynton. "Within their cruel pages, girls are only saved when a prince arrives to sweep them off their feet. Not so Jane, Jane saves herself and she most definitely does not want to live happily ever after. She wants adventure, danger and challenge!" Born in the UK, he now lives in New Zealand.
