He is a leading expert in object-oriented design, C, C++, and distributed computing. James Gosling, formerly Fellow and VP at Sun Microsystems, created the Java programming language. One of the computer industry's most noted programmers, he previously developed NeWS, Sun's network-extensible windowing system, and was a principal in the Andrew project at Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science.
