Joy Wilson is a self-taught chef who learned to bake from her father. She opened a wedding cake and wholesale baking business in Los Angeles in 2006. Joy the Baker, which she started at 2008, was selected Best Baking Blog by Foodbuzz in 2009 and was nominated for Best New Blog in the 2009 Bloggies. It was nominated for a Best Food Blog Bloggie again in 2010. The London Times called it one of the top 50 food blogs.

Joy is also a co-founder of On the Lamb, a roaming events company that hosts speakeasy parties, underground suppers, and culinary lessons throughout Los Angeles. After being featured on Daily Candy, she and her co-founders have developed a large following in Los Angeles.
