Just Dandy by Sandra Swenson
Sandra Swenson's life was perfect until addiction, divorce, and caregiving for aging parents turned her world upside down. Now facing her 'golden years' alone and establishing a career at 60, she reflects back on how the heartaches, though painful, cultivated a courage and resiliency she didn't realise she had and which ultimately led her to a path of healing. Her inspiring story shows that no matter what comes your way, you can grow through pain and heartache and create a life that is 'just dandy.'Sandy Swenson has two boys, one of which is a drug addict. Her story is chronicled in The Joey Song. In the March/April 2013 issue of Bethesda Magazine, her article, Letting Joey Go, was highlighted. Sandy founded the Bistro Boys, a program for young men from the National Center for Children and Families' Greentree Adolescent Program, as a member of the Junior Woman's Club of Chevy Chase. The Junior Woman's Club of Chevy Chase received the Spirit Award for Humanitarian Advocacy from the National Center for Children and Families in 2012.
