Just Like Mother Used to Make by Tom Norrington-Davies

Just Like Mother Used to Make is a celebration of home cooking. It takes you on a culinary tour of good old-fashioned food, from nursery staples like chocolate biscuit cake and macaroni cheese to family classics such as fish pie, corned beef hash, Lancashire hot pot and sticky toffee pudding. Many of the recipes are beautifully simple. All of them are guaranteed to help you rediscover the pleasures of comfort food - food that simply makes you feel better.

Tom Norrington-Davies is a cook and writer. He ran the kitchen at the pioneering food pub The Eagle between 1998 and 2003 and during this time also contributed to The Eagle Cookbook.

In 2004 Tom's first solo effort, Just Like Mother Used to Make (a homage to proper comfort eating) was published to widespread critical acclaim and The Sunday Times included it in their top five cookbooks of the year. He is also the author of Cupboard Love and Game: A Cookbook.
Tom writes a monthly column called 'A Man for all Seasons' in Delicious magazine. He is a regular contributor to the food pages of the Guardian and writes on a freelance basis for many publications, including Style Magazine (The Sunday Times) and The Daily Telegraph. He has guested on Radio 4's The Food Programme and Good Food Live.
He is now both the co-owner and head chef of Great Queen Street restaurant.
