The Kingfisher Treasury of Classic Stories by Michael Morpugo

The definitive collection of stories from children's literature; The Kingfisher Treasury of Classic Stories brings together all the very best stories in children's literature - all the stories that have inspired generations of readers - in one sumptuous volume. The extracts are satisfying in themselves and provide a taster to encourage children to seek out the complete stories from which they come. Each is accessible to the young child being read aloud to, and richly satisfying to the more confident reader. The definitive collection - a perfect gift for any child.
Michael Morpurgo is the author of over fifty books for children. He has won the Whitbread Children's Novel Award and the Smarties Book Prize and has had several of his novels adapted for film and television. A former teacher, Michael cares passionately about literature for children, and was a driving force behind setting up the Children's Laureateship, launched in 1999. He lives in Devon where he and his wife, Clare, run the charity, Farms for City Children. Rosemary Sandberg has an exceptional knowledge and experience of children's literature. Formerly Children's Publisher at HarperCollins, she is now one of the UK's leading children's literary agents, with an impressive list of clients on both sides of the Atlantic, including Rosemary Wells, Patrick Benson, Jane Ray, Babette Cole and Susan Jeffers. She lives and works in London.
