The times when the author wrote these stories were the years when Macondo opened the doors of magical realism to the author, where reality is expressed through magical and legendary formulas, and miracles are inserted into everyday life. The Incredible and Sad Tale of Innocent Er ndira and Her Heartless Grandmother personify innocence and evil, love and its distortion, and the story recalls medieval deeds and troubadour songs, as always, immersed in that dense and fruity world of the American Caribbean. These seven narratives are seven journeys into the world that the author had conquered once and for all.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez, awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1982, is the author of many novels and collections of stories, including One Hundred Years of Solitude, Love in the Time of Cholera, The General in His Labyrinth, Strange Pilgrims, and Of Love and Other Demons. He lives in Mexico City and Bogota.
