Elaine Sciolino is the author of Persian Mirrors: Iran's Mysterious Face, which won an award. She worked as The New York Times' chief diplomatic journalist and UN bureau chief before becoming a Paris correspondent and former Paris bureau chief. She was made a chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 2010. She has also worked for Newsweek as a foreign correspondent in Paris and Rome. Her husband and she live in Paris.
