The Last Librarian by Osdany Morales

Awarded the Alejo Carpentier Award in 2012, The Last Librarian follows the journey of a writer who has decided, as a way of honoring the artists who have meant the most to him, to visit and deposit a single book within each of the Seven Libraries of the World. Morales’s novel is a profound meditation on the origins and meaning of writing, time, and the act of artistic creation.
"This second novel from Morales was given an Alejo Carpentier Award and features a story about a writer who visits the seven libraries of the world — leaving a new book in each of themBoth Bryerman and Dopico say Morales is an up-and-coming Cuban writer who should definitely be on any bookworm’s radar." * OZY *

Born in Cuba in 1981, Osdany Morales holds an MFA in Creative Writing from New York University. The author of several novels and story collections, he has received the David Award for short fiction, the International Prize for Fiction Casa de Teatro and the Alejo Carpentier Award.

Kristina Bonsager (1970) is from the United States and has extensive experience in Argentina and Denmark. With an MA and PhD in Hispanic Literature, she has worked as a Spanish professor and translator. This is her second book translation, first in English.
