Latch-hooking is the latest old-school craft to experience a revival. Popular in the 1970s, latch-hooking is cool, kitsch and shockingly easy to do - think painting with numbers using wool. This book provides simple, illustrated, step-by-step methods and techniques for rugs using straightforward latch-hooking. Patterns are included in graph form of the design, and will include a list of materials, quantities and colours.
Lynda Spiro set up her Cockpit Arts Studio to make original contemporary rugs and wall art in 2004, with the help of a Cockpit Arts Seedbed Award. Her rugs, with their huge variety of colours, textures and designs, have gained rapid popularity. They have been selected and featured by the Bar Council in their inaugural showcase of designer-makers at their new offices in High Holborn, and she has been commissioned to make a rug for wall-hanging in the newly refurbished Penny Farthing Hotel in Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire.
