Learn to Paint With Watercolours by Ian Sidaway
Inexpensive, quick drying and capable of creating infinitely subtle nuances of light and shade, watercolour is the most popular of all painting media for leisure artists. This book gives you all the knowledge and skills you will need to get started in this wonderful hobby and produce artistic works you can be proud of. Aimed at the novice to intermediate-level painter, Learn To Paint With Watercolours features more than 25 practical projects that cover all the key watercolour painting techniques - including washes, masks, resists, spattering, sponging and sgraffito - to help the reader develop their skills as they progress through the book. The practical projects are based on popular painting subjects and include skies, water, trees, flowers, still lifes, buildings and people. In total there are more than 500 colour photographs and examples, both practical and inspirational, to complement the expertly written teaching notes, advice and professional tips. Each painting subject is introduced with an in-depth look at the typical issues it presents, and the most appropriate approaches and techniques are then suggested. Each project is presented with a list of paint colours, types of brush and other materials needed to you have everything to hand. For beginners and more experienced painters alike, this well-presented and authoritative book makes watercolour accessible and easy to tackle.
Ian Sidaway originally trained as a graphic designer and has been working as a freelance artist since 1970.
