Liam and the Pigeon by Andrew Stark
Liam and his mother find an injured pigeon, but Liam isn’t sure what to do. Aren’t pigeons kind of pests? His mother suggests they take the bird to a nature centre, and Liam begins to realize that every animal, no matter what kind, deserves care, respect and a place in our world. Young readers will find a friend in this series featuring quiet but strong eight-year-old Liam Kingbird.
Andrew Stark was raised on the Ojibwa Indian Reservation in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. After earning his MFA from Pacific University, he moved to Los Angeles and began his career as an editor for a fashion magazine. He has since been published in a variety of publications, and one of his short stories was adapted into a stage play. He lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with his two dogs—Gizmo, a chihuahua, and Barney, a chiweenie. Together, they love to camp and go hiking. Emily Faith Johnson grew up on a farm in Northern Wisconsin. She is a graphic designer, writer, and illustrator who loves bringing characters to life through her artwork. She’s always secretly wanted to become a Broadway star and when she’s not writing or making art, you can usually find her serenading the goats and ponies with show tunes. She is a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
