Light-Associated Reactions of Synthetic Polymers by A Ravve
This book combines theoretical explanations of the reactions of light and polymeric materials with development of light responsive polymeric materials for various practical applications. Photo associated reactions and light responsive materials have great potential to improve existing industrial processes, including capturing solar energy. From the reviews of the first edition:
"This book comprises six chapters, all of which are aimed at providing a clear understanding of the mechanisms of light-associated reactions of synthetic polymers… I strongly recommend this book to newcomers and researchers alike in this important field of photochemistry of synthetic polymers. … the book contains a wealth of information for the avid photochemist and should be a welcome addition to most libraries." (Pradip K. Bhowmik, JACS, Vol. 128 (50), 2006)
A. Ravve received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Utah in 1950, and was Post Doctoral Fellow at both the University of Michigan (1950-1951) and Iowa State University (1951-1952). He worked for 28 years with Continental Group, Incorporated, mainly as a Research Manager, and subsequently as Senior Consultant in syntheses and utilization of polymeric materials. He also taught evening courses in polymer chemistry at several institutions of higher learning in the Chicago area, from 1960-1991. Currently he does consulting in polymer chemistry.
