Like Mother, Like Daughter? by Bel Mooney
Like mother, like daughter? Not necessarily! Fourteen superb stories explore the mother-daughter relationship in a variety of different ways in this fantastic collection. Bel Mooney has chosen stories by the very best contemporary writers from the UK and US, including Adele Geras, Candice Ransom, Linda Newbery, Jean Ure, Cathy Hopkins and Shirley Klock. Heartwarming, funny, challenging and tragic, the stories in this collection reflect the complexity of the mother-daughter relationship. Some will make you laugh, others will make you cry. But whether you are a daughter or the mother of one, you will find much to recognise, think about and enjoy in all fourteen.
Bel Mooney made her name as a national journalist, columnist and broadcaster, before writing fiction for adults and children. Her best-selling series of stories for young girls, including I Don't Want To! and So What? was inspired by her own daughter, Kitty. Her career as a radio and television interviewer began in 1982 with the programme Mothers By Daughters for Channel 4. She has also written two books for younger readers, and there are more story and activity books in the pipeline. She is the compiler of an adult anthology on marriage and has written five novels for adults as well as short stories and scripts. She writes regularly for the Times. Bel Mooney holds an honorary D.Litt from Bath University and is a Fellow of University College London and Liverpool John Moores University.
