Lion In The Long Grass by Ruth Brown
The lion cub is left hidden in the tall grass of the savannah by his mother, while she goes off to hunt. Jackals are stalking him, but luckily for him an aged lion sees him first and takes a fancy to him. The little cub sleeps between his paws while he dozes. But a younger male lion disturbs them, and there is a fight. Little lion cub must learn the law of the safari plain, which is as pitiless as the law of the jungle and it, too, may not be denied.
Ruth and Ken Brown are two of Britain's best loved creators of children's books. She has created dozens of picture books for Andersen Press and has been short listed for the Kate Greenaway Medal many times. Ken Brown is highly respected as an author and illustrator, having also created many picture books for Andersen Press. They are married and have two sons.
