Local Heroes by David Erdal
Presents the evolution of Loch Fyne Oysters, the seafood company from the west coast of Scotland. This title describes how two men from entirely different walks of life founded and built the company, and how the employee buy-out transpired and developed.
David Erdal gained a BA in Oriental Studies at Oxford, then spent time in Mao's China. He received a Harvard MBA before returning to Scotland to manage the family paper mill business, transforming it into a more open company, for which he was given the 'Scottish Business Achievement Award' in 1998. His St Andrews PhD was on the subject of employee ownership and he is now MD of Baxi Partnership, which structures and funds all-employee buyouts of medium-sized companies. He lives in Fife, Scotland.
