Des Evans was born in the city of Liverpool in the year 1923. Despite being in the Reserve Occupation, he was eventually able to join the Army. This book details his duty in North Africa, Italy, and Arnhem during WWII. He served in Italy, Palestine, Germany, and the Suez Canal Zone after the war. After leaving the army, he met Betty and they married for nearly 40 years, until dementia forced them to go into a nursing home. Betty passed away in March 2010, and Des died three months afterwards.
