Mad Science by Reto Schneider
In Mad Science Reto Schneider tells the extraordinary tales of 100 of the more unusual experiments conducted across seven centuries of science. These are stories that are often bizarre, sometimes mind-boggling - occasionally stomach-churning - but always diverting, informative and enlightening.
'Mad Science is riddled with tales of selfless heroism.. Reto Schneider's book, although written as trivia, is all the more interesting for the light it sheds on the dark psychology of its subject' Daily Telegraph. 'It's better than picking up the scalpel for yourself. I loved it' New Scientist.
Born in 1963, Reto Schneider is a distinguished science journalist. A graduate of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Zurich with a degree in electrical engineering, he is the author of Planetenjager (Planet hunter), Birkhauser, 1997, the story of the discovery of the first planet found outside the solar system.
