Duncan Gabrelli lived a peaceful life-until one day when everything changed. When Duncan was sixteen years old, strangers burst into his home and brutally murdered his mother, while he hid underneath the house and heard every devastating sound.

But after dialing a mysterious number, young Duncan was whisked away to a whole new life, sent to the finest schools, and provided every luxury by an unknown benefactor.

Decades later, with a combination of intellect and (seemingly) good luck, he has climbed the ladder as an attorney at one of the most prestigious law firms around.

But there's one small problem: he is becoming increasingly consumed by the murder cases he works with on a regular basis, and is developing an unhealthy obsession with committing the perfect murder.

Now he is forced to confront his inner demons, if he wants to protect his reputation as an attorney-and, ultimately, his life. But in this life-altering conflict between right and wrong, is there any way for the brilliant but troubled attorney to emerge unscathed?
