Jerome is a young earth-artist spending a few months on an island in Lake Ontario. His idyll is shattered when he stumbles across a man frozen in the ice near the shore. Jane Urquhart is the author of five previous novels including Changing Heaven, Away (shortlisted for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award) and The Stone Carvers (longlisted for the Booker Prize). She was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2005. Jane Urquhart lives in Ontario, Canada.
