March Was Made of Yarn by David Karashima
An earthquake occurring off the north-eastern coast of Japan magnitude 9.0, duration six minutes unleashed a 50-foot tsunami that within fifteen minutes had slammed its way ashore, rushing inland six miles, crushing all in its paths, airports, villages, trains and buses and triggering the slow inexorable leak of radiation from five nuclear plants.
David Karashima and Elmer Luke are both acclaimed translators. Their work for the Nippon Foundation's Read Japan programme aims to make a wide variety of books from Japan available to foreign audiences by working in partnership with libraries, publishers, authors and translators.
