Herschel Grynszpan was a teenage undocumented immigrant in Paris 1938. On the 7th of November he walked into the office of Ernst vom Rath, an attach at the German Embassy, and shot him dead. The Nazis used the murder to whip up anti-Semitic sentiment, sparking>Kristallnacht, that ultimately lead to the Holocaust.
