This is the autobiography of Dr Heather Clark, the life-saving doctor with HEMS (the emergency helicopter team), who became a national heroine when she performed open heart surgery on a pub floor and saved the life of a stabbing victim. The author has a double life as a professional dancer.
Dr Heather Clark trained at St Mary's Hospital and spent her elective period abroad in a missionary hospital in Kenya. She has a BSc (Hons) in Chemical Pathology and Clinical Pharmacology, a Diploma of Anaesthesia and was made a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1997. She has trained as a ballet dancer, danced on television, and is ranked within the top 50 in the world in Ballroom and Latin American Dance.
