Mesopotamia by Lorna Oakes
Explore the land between the Two Rivers - one of the most ancient of all civilizations - and investigate why the Sumerians, Assyrians and Babylonians were among the first to develop writing, mathematics and the science of astronomy. Practical projects include designing a tunic fit for an Assyrian king and learning to play a musical lyre.
Dr Jen Green received a doctorate from the University of Sussex in 1982. She worked in publishing for 15 years and is now a full-time writer who has written many books for children. Her work with the Education Service at the British Museum includes producing trails and a teacher's guide on the Assyrian Galleries, taking part in the programme of gallery talks and lectures, and teaching school groups and theological college students.
