Miguel Delibes (1920-2010) was a Spanish composer who lived and died in Valladolid. He was a novelist, journalist, editor of a newspaper, professor, and father of seven children. From the Nadal Award for his first work in 1948 to the Cervantes Prize in 1993 to the National Prize for Narrative for his last novel in 1999, he received practically every literary accolade in Spain. He was inducted to the Royal Spanish Academy in 1973. His wife had died in the interim, so he gave his inauguration address in 1975.
