John Sollo's career as a dealer began casually in the late 1970s, with visits to estate sales and country auctions. Developing a love of folk art, he began his aesthetic education by reading and, most meaningfully, conversing with knowledgeable dealers and collectors. He became both a picker and a dealer. Folk Art was his focus until 1987 when he became hooked on modern design. Along with a handful of other enthusiasts, scholars, and experts he has defined and created the market for mid-century design. In person and in print, on television and radio, as a lecturer and author, he has brought thousands of collectors to appreciate the appeal of Modern's diverse and exciting aesthetics. Today he and his partner, David Rago, hold two major auctions a year in New Jersey, USA. John is described by Antiques and Arts Weekly as: "a premier authority in 20th Century Modern". Lita Solis-Cohen is Senior Editor at Maine Antique Digest and has had a long association with Miller's, contributing to numerous titles. She has been involved in the antiques trade for over 30 years and is advisor to the American Antiques Roadshow Bookclub.
