The Missing Duchess by Alanna Knight
Based on the early life of the author Benjamin McColloch Hord, this book is a mix of fact and fiction. Hord writes about his boyhood life at Rose Hill Plantation, his college days at Chapel Hill, and his experience as a soldier and officer in the Civil War. Not only is Hord's work a fascinating story of triumph and tragedy, it is a vibrant testament to the beliefs and practices of many early 20th century southerners.
