Monsieur Thermidor by Richard Kidd
At the bottom of the sea, a lobster called Monsieur Thermidor runs the best restaurant under the waves - until one fateful evening, he is swept up by an enormous fishing-net and finds himself for sale on a fish stall. He is rescued by a kind but unsuccessful chef called Henry, who needs his help.
Richard Kidd, artist and writer, born June 22 1952; died July 21 2008, studied painting at Newcastle University before taking up a scholarship at the British School at Rome. After several years of teaching at Newcastle University, he went to America in 1980, to spend a year in San Francisco and 6 years in New York on a Harkness Fellowship. Lyndsey Kidd studied fine art at Preston Polytechnic and worked as a mannequin modeller for seven years. Then she started making salt-dough models, including a series of seashore decorations which became illustrations for children's books.
