Moose by Michael Leach

An exciting look at the habitats, threats, life cycle and food chain of the moose. Follow a moose calf as it takes its first steps on an exciting journey through life in the northern forests. Join the young moose as it learns how to find the most tender leaves to eat, swim deep underwater and establish a home patch of its own. Meet some of the other animals that share the moose's woodland habitat. Find out about the threats facing the moose and what can be done to protect this powerful creature. Includes an animal map, locator map, life cycle summary, 'unusual fact' boxes, topic web and further information.
The author, Michael Leach, is a writer and television cameraman specializing in large mammals. In the past few years he has worked with mountain gorillas in Rwanda, orangutans in Borneo, lemurs in Madagascar and polar bears in the Arctic, and still bears the scars from the teeth of an unfriendly young brown bear he photographed in 1976. He has filmed natural history programmes for a number of television companies including the BBC.
