Muybridge'S Animals in Motion by Eadweard Muybridge

Do all four of a horse's hooves leave the ground when in full gallop? Indeed they do, and these are the works of the photographer who proved it. Muybridge's groundbreaking studies captured thousands of such subtle movements. This amazing collection features 167 photographic sequences of 34 different animals and birds, from horses to sloths, as they run, fly, leap, and perform other characteristic actions. Essential for illustrating animals, these eye-catching strips are great for art and craft projects, too. Special Bonus: includes 10 Flash animations plus 15 photographic sequences that are ready to be animated.

Eadweard Muybridge (1830-1904), a important figure in photographic history, was born in England but spent much of his adventurous life working as a photographer in the United States. He took panoramas of San Francisco and caught the natural majesty of Yosemite on big glass plates. He is best known for shooting and killing his wife's lover, but he made his name by solving problems with short-time exposure and utilizing its potential. Muybridge, the chronophotographer and forerunner of film, turned his subsequent studies of human and animal movement into his life's work.
